voltage regulator -relly matter which one

Postby 38racing » Mon May 08, 2017 5:26 pm

As a project I have re-wired a briggs stator that was dual output to be simply AC out. So now I need a regulator to get my DC. Does it really matter what I use as long as it has AC pair in and a DC out and is rated for the amperage?
I can get this one which is rated 20 amps according to amazon
https://www.amazon.ca/Voltage-Regulator ... op?ie=UTF8
for $20 cdn from

or

and I just remembered that I have this one pulled from an engine left at our dumpster. Maybe it's still good.

Should work but make sure you ground the case to engine crankcase.
