Briggs made Snapper RER Steering

Postby dunoon2 » Tue Aug 22, 2017 2:36 pm

Had a call 2yr old Snapper with steering worn out. What a piece of crap. Took forever to get it apart to get to the steering rack. Got a new rack got the front end back together except can't get the pinion back to engage the rack. I think I need to remove the steering column but, can't get the steering wheel off. Any suggestions? Has anyone ever worked on one of these? A real piss-poor design. No grease fittings only on the wheels. Anyway thanks for any suggestions.

What the model number so I can look at the IPLs?

Thanks,It's a 7800920-00, RE-110, the parts diagram don't show much at least how to get it together.

To remove the steering from shaft remove the center on the steering wheel and the nut and washer. May need a puller to separate the two afterwards.

Also looks the only thing hold the steering column on is four bolts.

Thanks, got it fixed. I guess soaking the steering shaft and wheel in PB Blaster for a couple days done the trick. Went over there with a friend to help me and it came right off, was able to get it back together in no time.

Corrosion does have a funny way sticking stuff on. Glad you got it fixed.
