cracked flywheel-bad torque wrench

I'm thinking that an already cracked one might explain why the torque wrench kept going.

Yes it can explain it as it is weak point would just keep opening since it is no longer restrained sorta like a spring clamp.

i found a big nut and bolt. secured in the vise and set wrench at 80. tightened to click. took it to my auto mechanic. he clicked at 70 and 80. he said at 90 it was turning. so he set his at 100 and tightened to 100. i then set mine to 90 and i just clicked. so seems wrench is ok.
