Ahh one made under the John Deere owner ownership.

  1. First set the mixture screw at one turn (if two mixture set set at one turn). Personally I usually start at 1-1/2 turns.
  2. Start and run the unit for at least 5 minutes before attempting any adjustments.
  3. Start and set low speed mixture at best top speed.
  4. Once done then set idle speed at 3400 rpm for clutch models 3800 non-clutch models.
  5. Now make sure string is extend to the trimmer max line length before hi adjustment.
  6. Adjust optimum best speed.

These are the minimum max speeds.
    1. 15" with .080 line 7200
    2. 17" with .080 line 5800
    3. 17" with .095 line with gearhead 6000
    4. 17" with .105 line with Procut Head 5800

Thanks KE4AVB. Is there a maximum maximum speed, or speed not to exceed?
