Actually I just got a call back from PD. The above engine list for $240 and is available. For some reason the their system rejects the full model number I used by cut and paste.
As for the flywheel a heavy wouldn't be need since it is driving a hydraulic pump but said the crankshaft will need to be shorten or spacers added. You're only fighting the engine's compression at startup. There is one other possible problem and that is with the recoil position. The last vertical log splitter engine I replaced require turning the engine 90 degrees CW so the operator wasn't smacking the splitter when starting. It require new mounting holes and the operator will not be able to change the oil except by using an oil extractor but he went 10 yrs without changing the oil. No wonder the engine failed.
