Briggs 12F802 Air cleaner back plate

Postby wristpin » Sun Sep 29, 2019 4:13 pm

12F802-1325-01-02050759.. Has a manual choke (no primer) . The molded plastic bracket that holds the top cowl and anchors the throttle cable is cracked. Done a temporary repair with Q-Bond .
Looking at the IPL it shows two back plates , one with the molded plastic bracket and one with a screwed on metal one - but both with primer buttons.
So to buy a replacement back plate do I just buy one with a primer , remove the button and transfer the blanking plug from the old one or leave the button in place but tell the user to ignore it or is there a non primer back plate tucked away out of sight in the IPL somewhere.

they all supercede to the new part number 795259 anyhow so it won't matter - new part number is pretty much a kit with enough parts to fit all applications (Manual choke, auto choke and primer equipped) If you get a complete kit it will probably include a new blanking plug for the primer circuit.

Wirstpin, Basically the customer buys you a primer bulb that you can sell to another customer. It is just less inventory for Briggs to keep track of.
