Can you use a key that's the full length of the keyway? I was working on my neighbour's mtd rider. The engine pulley came loose and damaged the keyway. Key is built into the pulley so longer key was not an option. I put a key in the keyway and filled widened section of keyway with jb weld. After it hardened I removed the key and installed new pulley.

Everything involved was actually all banked up. The adapter, blade and blade bracket were all bent. I inspected the flywheel key and it looks like it's intact. I got all the parts in today and wrapped it up. When I put on the new blade and rotated it, it was hitting the front baffle. Whatever they hit, they did a job on it. I was able to remove and straiten out the baffle so everything fits good now. Thanks for the help.
