True about using a desulfator.
I prefer the Battery MINDER, model 121177C as a trickle/float charger. (I buy them when on sale)It has a auto function that when a battery gets fully charged it goes into a desulfating mode. (flashing green light)
It has a push to select for desulfating.
I've restored some of the small Lawn tractors batteries that I thought was a complete goner, but usually I have to keep my fingers crossed and expect to replace the battery before long.
They do not seem to hold a static charge (eq not being used) as long as a good battery after finding them completely dead and then re-storing, but worth the effort since the battery was a goner anyway.

I also use some of the 60 watt area solar trickle chargers on some eq that I do not use very often.
