I found a coupon and did get the HF 1/4" torque wrench. Nice little unit in a hard case. Gotta really listen and feel for click. Got carbon cleaned out of head. Sprayed head gasket with 4 light coats of Copper Gasket Maker (~$9 at NAPA). Torqued it per the manual steps. Runs great now - no smoke and good power.

Now, on tuning carb mix screw....Go IN (CW) until it runs rough and then back out 1/8 turn or so? Currently, I have good power and no smoke but only 10 mins WOT run time.

Thanks so much.

Most instructions I have seen is the carburetor mixture is adjusted in to Iean until rpm drop, note position, then back out to rich until rpm drop, note position, and set mixture screw to halfway between the two noted positions.
