It will be a lt1024 clutch problem. Clutch was bad and installed a new at about 400. Its not the triangle one but round. Problem is that after installed and took home after about 1.6
1.5 or 2 hrs the guy said blades quit. When he shut it down there was smoke coming from the clutch and now the clutch will not engage. My thoughts was stator was bad or the regulator or both not putting out enough or to much. Just like to hear some thoughts on what u think. Not going to put another 400 $ in a clutch just to see smoke come out. Any thoughts on what might have smoked it so quick and where to check and what to look for as the prob to keep from doing this again. Thanks for all your time. :bricks:

Paid way too much for the clutch...can be got for less than 200 USD including shipping especially since you indicate your in KY.

The 5219-25 (717-1774C) requires an extra washer to be installed. (PN 736-0277 Flat Washer, 1.031 x 1.62 x .095). I don't if leaving it out is going cause the clutch to short out. Also did you burnish the new clutch in? The manufacture do put an anti-rust coating on to prevent rust while the parts are awaiting sell that must be burnt off or slippage will occur causing overheating.

If it not any of the above and the voltages are correct then you might just have been unlucky and got a bad clutch. It happens although it is very rare.

I would think the extra washer would go between pulley and the Pto Clutch but could be wrong. Here is snapshot and part list for the LT1024 pto system.

Items
4 710-0561 Screw, Hex Cap, 7/16-20 x 2.5 GR5
7 717-04080 CLUTCH-ELECTRIC PT
7 717-1774C Clutch, Electric PTO CMS Style (5219-25) | Not Shown, Replaces 717-1774, also requires 736-0277 flat washer
7 736-0277 Flat Washer, 1.031 x 1.62 x .095 | use with 717-1774C

my part number is rotary 12424 and says it replaces part number 917-1774b. sure it says use flat washer. is there a washer i can get from lowes that would fit the same as this part number 736-0277. in that snap shot you gave it doesnt show it but in another one i found it has that flat washer. thanks for the info

There should be no physical mounting difference between revision B and C. As for the washer if Lowes has one that meets the noted specs I see no problem.

By the way I just threw out a 29 pc drill bit set I purchased from Lowes two years ago. They were supposedly HSS bits but I couldn't get them to make it through even thin bed rail angle iron without dulling to the point of not working at all. It wasn't that I was going to fast and over heating them either as my drill has a top speed of 500 rpm. I got a set from another supplier and on the first job I drilled through the 4 ea 1/4 bolts of the Husqvarna spindles with only slight dulling and they were those harden self tapping bolts. :D
