John Deere 68 w/8hp Briggs won't start when hot

Yeah definitely a design flaw. The fully enclosed engines from what I've seen, seem to be a mid-late 70s, early 80s only thing. I'll see what I can do and thank you to all that replied and confirmed it is a heat problem. I have to say for a 1977 aluminum bore this thing does runs great with no smoke and oil usage is negligible. Thanks again.

If possible, I would build an angle iron cubical frame to fit inside the current cover and when secure, I would cut away the unneeded sheet metal to let it breathe.

That may work. After a quick google image search it appears that later model 68s don't have that cover
