part keeps failing

John Deere LX176 second time this part has broken. Looks like belt is rubbing against it then it snaps.
All the spindles seem in good shape. Makes a huge rattle sound after failing, put tiny bit of pressure on brake and it stops

A picture of the actual failed part would help and not that Ebay picture. Need to see where the wear is and where it is breaking but I suspect the v-idler belt retainer might hanging on it. Haven't had in the shop with broken ones here.

Are you using a John Deere brand belt, if not that could be the cause. The JD brand of belt has a slightly different angle on the V portion.
