tygon and ethanol

since other thread is locked I was just looking at my aftermarket parts supplier. for each size they show 2 tygon numbers with one of them saying it it's ethanol compatible so I assume that the other one is not.

sort of related. Friend has hitachi trimmer with cracked fuel pickup line. part number is 6698716 (apparently Tanaka) . It's the black soft type going through a grommet (sold separately) . I'm wondering if I can just replace with whatever line I have assuming I have some that fits.

Most of lines are the F-4040-A line with the exception the LP-1200 line. I haven't tried any of the LP-1200 so I can't say if it is any better or not personally. Mainly because of the bad results I had with the True Blue line from Stens which was supposedly 100% ethanol resistance. The LP-1200 supposedly has a liner the is ethanol resistance but that doesn't mean the rest of line is when submerged. For me the F-4040-A is $28 per 50' where the LP-1200 is $36 per 50' when it come the .080 line.

Yes you can use what fits properly though if I could I would go with the Nitrile rubber line. You just want a very good seal. I have seen some that black plasticize line and it wasn't very good at all. I even have drill out a few molded grommets and install a new line in them.

Just use the application >( lawn & garden) and the chemical resitance ( 1. ethanol & 2. gasoline ) dropdowns. It will bring up what's compatible.

But I suppose you would be limited to Canuck $upplier$, right?
