422707-1229-01 with dual fuel pumps

Working on a Giant Vac Giant Mow with the 422707-1229-01. Wondering why it would need the carburetor fuel pump plus a remote vacuum fuel pump especially with the fuel mounted higher than the engine. Thinking eliminating the remote fuel pump as I see it appears unnecessary for this setup.

Thoughts while I order an universal choke cable.

Could be a re-power any idea what original engine to the giant vac model was?

I wonder if somebody stripped the innards from the original pump. That is an odd set up.

No idea what the original setup was. I do think it has been repowered.

The carburetor mounted fuel pump was still intact through the vacuum port is capped as they use the vacuum line for the remote pump which was held on with a piece electric fence wire.

I suspect the on the carb fuel pump is bad or weak and they just remote mounted the vacuum pulse pump to pump thru the OEM carb pump. Remote vac pump $20 or less and the carb pump kit might be higher priced or NLA.

I'm into one right now on a old B48M Onan and a Bubba has removed a high dollar OEM vintage carb with built in fuel pump and installed a remote vac pump and different carb and all just hanging loose and I don''t have the correct breather for Bubba's carb.
AND
a $18 kit would have most likely repaired the OEM carb and kept everything original. It's (the mess)is on a nice high dollar Lawn and garden tractor. When I asked bubba if they still had the OEM carb they removed, he indicated it must have got thrown in the trash while still on the manifold along with some other Onan stuff.

Some real geniuses out there isn't there.

That's sorta like the guy that brought a new push mower used it once and on the second use it died. He couldn't get it started again so he takes a sledge hammer to it. When done he decides to check the fuel tank. Surprise it was only out of fuel.

Actually the carb kit only costs $8. Even if it was weak it should still worked as the bottom of fuel tank is higher the top of the engine. Probably just one those DIYer jobs.
