Craftsman seat switch

Postby jerkputter123 » Thu May 17, 2018 10:49 pm

I have a friend who needs a seat switch for his old craftsman riding mower. He cannot find any numbers but we have the switch off. No marking on it.

It has two male terminals and bolts on with two number 10 or number 12 screws and nuts. All I can find when searching the net is double pole switches that bolt on. Any way to make a four terminal switch work. The ones I found look just like his except they have the four terminals on them. Thanks for any help. This is all the information I have right now.

I haven't came across such a switch setup yet in the time I have been working on mowers but...
Most two pole switches have one pole that is normally open and one that normally closed. With that you just wire up the pole that you need and leave the other unwired. By normally open and closed I mean they have continuity (closed) or not (open) when switch is it normal non depressed state.

An actual picture to switch you might help too as you may can convert to another style by changing the connection setup. Older equipment sometimes requires such mods.

Ah I my thinking was a little off. The two screws are mounting it. Let me do a little digging here as I probably got a actual switch like that in my safety switch box. It is a standard safety switch that is either mounted by screws or riveted in place.

Do you know which mode you need; otherwords, does it need to make contact when it depressed or not? Normally on one the electrical legs it will be stamped NC or NO.

Check out these two Delta switches. Stens 430-405 normally open and Stens 430-409 normally closed. The normal position referred to is when the switch is not depressed.
