Briggs 31C707 sneezing at idle.

Postby KE4AVB » Sun May 27, 2018 4:07 pm

First time in the 9 yrs I have working to run into this problem. It was out of the ordinary for me. It was like it had a cold. Be running fine, sneeze, take off like scalded dog, and settle back down until it sneezes again. I had to sleep on this one; well it Sunday and it was raining anyways.

Now I got order the parts to fix it but I got to pull the deck first and check it out.

EDIT> This might have been what a few other posters have asked about by saying the engine back firing through the carburetor. I not calling it a back fire as no flames were present. Any want venture as to what was the source of the problem? Now I will add this about the engine as does have Nikki carburetor but that was not it.

My outboard does that a couple times every trip. Always freaks me out...that one second delays is an eternity when you are three lakes away from your dock. :?
