Part#175899 Bypass Rod

Anyone out there know where I might be able to get this part? Everywhere I've checked said discontinued...says 583074001 is an equivalent but I can't find it either. This is on a Craftsman 917.272244 Tractor. The spring is fubared!

May need to visit a mower graveyard.

I was afraid you'd say that! No lawnmower grave yards anywhere near me I'm afraid! Funny, I usually always find parts for Craftsman tractors...I'm surprised this one is no where to be found...

check ebay perhaps, there's quite a few folks that made a business out of stripping down junked machines and selling the used parts from them

Another question gentlemen...I assume the spring on the bypass rod just goes to the little lever tab on the right lower side of the tranny. And when this tab is pulled to the rear, doesn't that disengage the tranny? I tried a piece of baling wire and pulled it to the rear but the wheels stay locked...the brake is off...
