Old Briggs/Stratton IPL

Postby dennis » Tue Jul 10, 2018 6:51 pm

I am working on a Briggs and Stratton 5HP on an old Wizard tiller. The B&S model is 130202, type 0135-01, code 6902..rest is obliterated. The only IPL I can find is for type 0135-99, which probably has the same parts....but not sure. I cannot find a carburetor kit listed in the IPL. I guess my questions are...does anyone have an IPL specific to type 0135-01? Does anyone know what carb kit this would take?

Anything before 1982 have been given the -99 trim code. As the carburetor all you need is the diaphragm, carb to cylinder (intake), and tank gaskets plus maybe a pickup tube. Other than that there is no carb kit for these slide choke models.

99 means the parts are common to all trim numbers.

Dennis,
Your engine is the "poster child" for what my son and I work on and is right in our wheelhouse...
In addition to the correct advice already given, I would recommend getting a new needle valve kit as well. The Briggs # for this is 299060 and they go for about $ 5.00 shipped on eBay.
