Flywheel key used?

Postby partsman » Thu Sep 13, 2018 9:46 am

B&S Intec v-twin 44m777 0790B1 does it use a keyway for flywheel as I thought maybe I lost it when removing the flywheel but can not find replacement in parts breakdown? Local small engine parts supplier said only one listed with crankshaft is for timing gear.
thanks in advance for any help with this.

I can't finnd it either, it has to have one. Is it by any chance cast into the flywheel? I wonder if Briggs ommitted it on the IPL, have your dealer contact the distributor.

Hi Partsman

Go to partstree.com an enter your numbers (44M777-0790-B1) in the model search window. Click on the Cylinder, Crankshaft, Camshaft page and look at key # 24 on the IPL. Hope this helps and all the best,

:D Thanks everybody!
That is the part I need, its funny that it wasn't in the parts breakdown that came with the lawn tractor nor was it in the dealers B&S catalog. I did notice that the crankshaft and flywheel were tapered and that the nut torque is 150 lb ft and it may of held if it was aligned correctly when tightening but seeing that there is a cut on both the shaft and flywheel I would feel better using a key.
