Stihl 025 Air Filter

Postby Mr Mower Man » Wed Dec 19, 2018 1:08 pm

A customer brought me a Stihl 025 saw that he bought in the early '90's. I'm looking for an air filter, which to me ought to be pretty straightforward. But it's not. Stens tells me the air filter that fits the 025 is part number 605-687. But that filter looks nothing like the one that's on the saw currently. I did a search on ebay and found one that matches. It says the Stihl part number is 1123 120 1621 (or 1622). How come there's no aftermarket part for this filter? I get all the funky equipment in my shop, it seems. I'm gonna hafta stop taking Stihl. They're just a pain in the rear, and I can't look up parts for them anyway.

Where do you suggest I get the right filter for this?

1123 120 1620 is for the Image

I will PM you a source for the aftermarket filter. It will take 1 to 2 weeks to get one in. If you need 025 IPL or SM I can upload them to to My Drive on a temp basis so you can download them. Just let me know. Note some part number will be superseded.

BTW just wait until you need Zama carburetor kit. Dealer only item now.

DId that long ago, and also Husqvarna (and any "flavors" of same, such as Poulan, Jonsered,Pioneer,Partner, Weedeater, Etc) After getting the parts in (if they are even readily available) and get the job done plus shop labor, they might as well just have bought a new one... so I just don't do them any more.

I work part time for a rental yard that also does general small engine repair, if we didn't take saws in there wouldn't be a lot to do right now as winter has somehow missed us so far. The entry level saws are so cheap that anything more than a quick tune up or rewind repair is a waste of time but we see a good number of semi and pro models that pay well. Parts and consumables like bars and chain are good money makers.

This is what the filter looks like. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-Stihl- ... :rk:1:pf:0

Maybe it can be changed over to the style of filter Bobodu was showing me? As long as the mounting base is included with it? If not, I think I'll just drive 4 miles to the local Stihl dealer and buy one from them. They generally mark parts down for me. :D

What do you think?
