HydroGear T2-CDBE-5X1A-18C1 transaxle leak

Transaxle is leaking from the shifter shaft seal. I looked at a parts diagram and I don't even see a seal on that shaft. Is there a seal on the shift shaft? If so is it replaceable without disassembling the transaxle?

yes, you can replace that seal with out splitting it apart, you might have to buy the whole seal kit though to get it

If you are referring to the one on the control arm it is PN 45076 superseded to PN 53901 - SEAL .75 X 1.125 X .25 LIP. Actually the IPL is showing it to be the same as the axle seals.

The lip that rides on the shaft was pushed out so I'm guessing it wasn't installed right from the factory. I have an older HydroGear parts tranny so I was able to rob a good seal off the axle. Where do I add/check the oil level on this tranny? Does it use 20W50 like the older tranny I have?

Fill the T2 to the bottom of the oil fill port threads. SAE20W50. Recheck the fluid level once the unit has been operated for approximately 1 minute. Purge as needed.

It took a few oz of 20W50. It's now filled and so far no leaks. Many thanks for the help Starfire! Wishing you and everyone in this great forum a Happy New Year!
