Chainsaw Sprocket Bearing Lube to use?

Postby Dale_W » Sun Dec 30, 2018 11:36 am

Happy New Year All!

I am installing a new sprocket bearing in a Stihl MS250.

As of this point I have 3 choices of grease,
a tub of LubriMatic Disc & Drum Brake High Temp Wheel Bearing Grease,
a tube of Napa Sil-Glyde,
a tube of Mobile-1 Synthetic Grease in the grease gun.

Would you recommend using one of these greases, or is there something better I should use?

I'd also need to lube where the crank goes through what I will call the plastic worm gear for the oil pump.

Thank in advance,

Dale

Just a dab of the hi-temp - don't over-do it, and at most smear a thin film on crank for the worm gear - most of the lube will be coming from bar & Chain oil that slings off the chain,so consider it to be simply assembly lube for initial lubrication. too much grease and you'll foul the clutch shoes and drum.
