Looks to me that the connecting rod went up through it when the piston got jammed. Or it was one those great Chinese pistons.

This was on a Briggs and Stratton generator with a 24G032-0001-G1 engine. It looks like a Honda clone.
I was going to use the cylinder for another generator but it has a 1/8" deep groove in the cylinder wall
