Wire size

What gauge wire should be used from the battery to a momentary starter switch, and from the switch to the solenoid coil? The total distance from battery to switch to solenoid, is less than 3 feet. It will be used on a 10.5HP Briggs and Statton engine. (Not talking about the starter cable)

Most mowers uses 16 ga for remote starter relay (solenoid, contactor). It when you get to the solenoid shift starters that long runs start affecting the solenoid operation especially Kohler starters. But if you are weird about voltage drop use 14 ga.

Thanks, KE4AVB. Think I'll go with #16 primary wire.
