Transaxle repair

Postby Gerry » Sun Sep 05, 2021 11:01 am

Got an Ariens in made by HOP/Poulan Pro 960460067 00, A175G42. Problem is it wont move forward or back, its got a new belt, jack it up and no resistance when I hold the wheels in forward or reserve. Trans number is Peerless 206-565 crossing to 794837. I have not removed the transaxle just wondering if its not just cheaper to R&R than to bust open and repair. New one is about $325.00 retail and some labor. With price of some of the gears $300.00 can be gone in no time.

Thoughts please.

Thanks in advance.

Open it up to see what failed, it sounds like a shift collar or fork problem.

It probably would not hurt to check for missing axle key.

Good point. Did you have the wheel(s) off?
