confusing briggs ipls

Postby 38racing » Mon Apr 17, 2023 11:20 am

for a 28m7070 L-head. When checking walbro carb part numbers there are a few and they also show lmt numbers in brackets. There is no lmt37 shown but that's what is on my engine. I don't know history so maybe it got swapped? But when you check parts like the nozzle, again, there are a bunch of part numbers with lmt numbers in brackets and in this case there is a part number for a lmt37. Why would you need a nozzle for a 37 if none of the carbs used was a 37? Am I missing something?

One thing the complete engine model needs to be posted but some type numbers of this engine did use the LMT37 carburetor. An example is the 28M707-0123-01. And LMT37 is gravity fed carburetor.

The complete carburetor is PN 498027 -(GRAVITY FEED)(LMT 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 32, 37, 38, 39, 40, 41, 63, 64,65, 66,
77, 78, 79, 80, 81, 92, 93, 94, 95, 96, 97, 108, 111, 133, 134,135, 136, 162, 163, 164, 165)

model 28m707 0137-01 9406074a
briggs ipl I have covers type 0026- 1194 before code date 02.... ms-01524c -5/2002

498027 has 18 lmt numbers from lmt 77 to lmt 165, no 94,95, 135,163,164 but has a 99,100
What is your source for the ipl? Mine was already downloaded so I'll go back to briggs to check but ipl published 8 years after engine would drop a carb number?
Update: so I go back to briggs . IPL this time is unnumbered and undated. I note that it has part numbers after each exploded page, the previous one has part numbers after all the explode pages.
Like I said , Briggs IPLs are confusing. One I just downloaded , 38 pages, previous 17. Maybe just font size.

Then that is the difference as I am looking at the updated IPL on the Power Portal (dealer site) that is type number specific.

28M707-0137-01 IPL

This why the internet is so messed up as a lot info is out dated; although, useful sometimes.

Not sure I would say it's the internet. Both ipl are published by briggs and the one lacking info has the model detail right in the document.
