Yeah, that fixed bracket is a poke in the eye. Really because they did it to sell more belts as the prior years were adjustable. You can see it's the same design bracket just welded in place. Then the OEM bracket quadrupled in price, so I just bought the HOP ones.

It's a good idea to see if the brakes pull off / engage somewhat evenly. They sometimes think they are MTD or something....

Do you that Husqvarna PN for the bracket? I would like to add it to my database crossed parts as at over $20 for simple piece of metal is ridiculous. JD PN GX20168.

Thank you. I see it is listed at a fourth of the JD price. My cost each is only $3.25, suggested price to the customer is $4.99. Now to the nightmare project.

Murphy law. Got my order yesterday and I ordered the large stationary one instead of small engagement one.

I dunno if Musk needs Murphy. He seems to have that touch all on his own!

It does doesn't it... When things seemly is going your way all the time, Murphy will strike.

He has definitely had a streak of it lately from bad decisions and general bad luck.

Ok. Time for an update. Bolt holding muffler to engine came out and muffler broke off pipe. He dropped off today with new muffler when I was out but I welded muffler and then did a test cut. I don't like feel when cutting, feel excess vibration. I checked there is some play in left blade so might need a spindle as I think I've done bearings already. I also checked the pulley guards. On the right side guard the belt has worn through the piece that I added. Thing is the belt sits in the worn area even with blades engaged. It's the front side where belt exits the guard and goes onto the engagement idler pulley. I believe someone suggested that the engagement arm mount might be worn. I can see that if engagement pulley went further in then the belt might move away from guard, pushing on pulley didn't move it. Maybe I'll go to left side and see if I can pull it farther in.

You need to disassemble the moving idler arm to inspect it. If like other mowers the pivot will egg out and the stepped washer will wear one sided. They should be replaced as a set when wear is found.
