Oh those sprayers..

Postby hanz63 » Wed Jul 12, 2023 6:39 pm

I have a customer that has a dead regulator on her FR691v-DS07 (21066-7017). She's been using a 12 AMP rated sprayer apparently running thing for hours at a time. I'm guessing this beat the regulator to death. Besides powering the sprayer with a different power source, is there anything to be done to protect the charging system? Stator is nice an happy.

You could try using a 21066-7011 20 amp regulator. The current regulator is a 15 amp one. And she is pushing it amp and heat ratings. Just be careful as she might cook the stator next.

Any side effects that you can think of? This is a small Toro ZTR 74640 that I'm sure has the funky brake module that doesn't need more help to exit stage left.

It should be fine.

There is something you should do however and that is to check brake module connector. They are supposed to water tight but they are fully and corrosion can be present. Toro want to replace the complete wiring harness whenever the module is replaced. But you can just replace the terminals and the connector housing. I got them here so it just a matter of looking up the part numbers and then ordering them from Mouser, Inc. It is a Molex MX150 12 position.

The repair instructions for the MX150 style should be in the downloads under electrical components.
