I keep forgetting you are North of the border.

Have you checked out the following site? They claim to be in Canada.

Service manual is dated 1998 so you may have different manual than I do.

I was interpreting that as a clearance range applying to both valves similar to range in other items in the tables.

Now you what I have to put with 38. I getting in fairly new engines that I can't even get parts for. One was Briggs and the other two Loncin engines.

Briggs excuse was they had subcontracted the engine out and that the manufacture has gone under.

Loncin won't return my emails but I did find some Loncin parts over in Aussie land at ODK. The problem is one of the engine I can't even find an IPL for it.

Well I got the exhaust valve and installed to .004 lash. Compression now 90. I see the compression release bump at about 1/2 inch piston down BTDC compression. Still absolutely no fire on sprayed in carb cleaner. An inline tester is sparking. So ???. I'm going to fill tank and prime/choke. I'm going to pull and use yet another plug from another starting blower. Then I'm going to put original coil back on. I also just broughi home another blower with same engine. Going to pull the plug and watch piston valve positions and compare.

I'd also be thinking about Ignition timing - Even though flywheel key might be fine, always a possibility of twisted crankshaft, or reverse polarity flywheel magnets, among other things, and also had one time when the ignition module would only fire when the engine was spun BACKWARDS - Among other wonky results from otherwise spark-producing modules, so I would not be the least bit surprised to find one that ignition timing was screwed up by some sort of voltage/wiring/circuitry failure - Have you considered trying a known good ignition module? Got to think about the stuff you can't SEE but have to ASSUME , in addition to the stuff you can actually easily test (Hard to test a single cylinder for ignition timing!)

The current coil is from a push mower but I don't recall status when retrieved. I have another, again not sure status but they do spark across that wide gap oregon tester. And it ran fine before the bucket work .I'll confirm that same motor on other blower starts and then use its coil.
