Okay definitely appears to be using the older style solenoid retainer.
Old Style (uses O-ring)

Newer Style ( top view, couldn't find a side view but either way it doesn't appear to be hex shape)

Edited to correct word spelling.

On a side note I have found that the date code breaks in the part manuals are just a guideline. In the last year I have found numerous mistakes in the Briggs IPLs. I have order parts base on the info given to only re-order parts as some were wrong when I got them in. It one of the reasons that I always try to get pictures and as much info on a part before I order them.

Since I normally download the PDF file for which ever engine I working on; I make my own notes in them for future references.

I don't know what yer lookin' for, but there's not much more can be said.

I be wrong!! That photo does indeed show the single main jet, screwed into the side of the brass adapter!! Imagine that!

I know but you got to be patient. We all get things like from time to time. There have been times that I even question my abilities and why I even wanted to work on equipment. Just see someone face light when you finally get it working where no one could is a bug ((typo correction) the word should have been big) reward at least to me.
