Bushing reamer size

Postby KE4AVB » Thu Nov 28, 2013 1:43 pm

What is the size of the Briggs 19058 bushing reamer? I am replacing a badly worn governor bushing. I should be able to get a reamer from Fastenal just to know the size.

The Briggs 131432-0144-01 going to take other mods too as the bellcrank is no longer held in place by a keeper pin also. Part had been superceeded twice at least.

I found this in an older repair manual, hope it helps:

If governor shaft bushing is replaced, it
must be finish reamed with Tool #19333,
Finish Reamer, for 1/4” (6.35 mm) governor
crank or with Tool #19058, Finish
Reamer, for 3/16” (4.74 mm) governor
crank.

Here is the source; http://evanosaurus.com/ebooks/270962%20 ... RATTON.pdf, section 5, page 21 in the NOTE after step 3.

The problem is then the 19058 isn't going to work as it smaller than the .2370 - .2375 shaft I have and I have 1/4 finish reamer for the 1/4 valves and it too big; I already leaking too much oil. It looks like I need to go with the letter B (.2380) or the Letter C (.2420) sized reamer; Letter D (.2460) seems to be too big.

I had similar problem when I first started doing the 1/4 exhaust valve guides; the after-market guides could not be driven because they were few sizes larger then Briggs 1/4 valve guide could handle. All Briggs support could do was for me to experiment with larger reamers.
