Greetings All
Did anyone on the forum see the meteor that tracked from south to north across the western sky just before 11:00 pm MST last night Feb 23rd? I figure Bruce might have seen it if anyone did. It took me a couple or so seconds to recognize what it was, as I first saw it through some trees. Once it came into the clear, I could see it breaking up and leaving a trail of orange plasma in its wake. It took about 20 seconds to travel to the north horizon. I listened for about 3 minutes but didn't hear a sonic boom or anything, so it must have just grazed the mesosphere. Anyhow, it sure was interesting to see. All the best,
Sky
Edit: Feb 25, 2015. NASA indicates that fireball was a Chinese launch vehicle re-entering the atmosphere after deploying a satellite sometime late last year.
