In need of a Briggs 5 HP carb

Postby creia » Tue Dec 05, 2017 8:52 pm

I'm looking for a Briggs 5 HP 130202 "Pulsa-Jet" carb for a horizontal shaft engine . The kind with the pull out /slide choke used from the 1960s - 1980s. It does not need to be pretty or functional in its present state. As long as it is complete with no missing or damaged parts I can clean it up and rebuild it. My son and I have restored some of these vintage carbs to full working order that initially looked like they went down with the Titanic. Please let me know if you have anything to sell by emailing me directly at michael.moore@charter.net.
Thank you,
Michael :)

I see some pulsa jet Briggs carbs on flea bay with gas tank by searching using Briggs 5hp Pulsa jet carb.
Shipping charges hurts the price, but some might be make offer

You probably know this:
I've taken the 3.5 hp Briggs carbs and used them on a deeper 5 hp gas tank by changing the pickup tubes and vice versa.

You might also try placing a saved search on flea bay.

Arkie,
Thanks for the reply- much appreciated. :)
Unfortunately, the Ebay numbers you posted are not the type of Pulsa Jet carbs I'm looking for and at this time nothing else is showing up. I do continue to check on Ebay fairly regularly...

I had overlooked your Briggs 130202 engine number you posted and wondering how the Pulsa jet Carb you are looking for is different than this pulsa jet on flea bay that is listed as for use on the 130202 engine?

Arkie, That is the "newer" style Pulsa Jet carb with the rotary choke. Those are available all over the internet. I am in need of the "older" style with the pull-out (slide) choke at the rear of the carb which VERY seldom ever come up on Ebay.. I know, it sounds like I am nit-picking (and I am), but I want/need a carb that is period correct for the 1969 5 HP Briggs engine my son and I are restoring. That being said, I DO very much appreciate you trying to help me out. :)

Yes about the pull out choke. I did not see that ebay Pulsa jet carb is a rotary type choke. I'm still using (running) couple of the old Briggs Horiz with the pulsa jet pull out choke, did not know those type carbs are hard to find and had not noticed the difference.

Thanks for the explanation.

The small flo jet type carbs with the external gas tank seemed to be the more common type on the old Horiz Briggs.
