Porter-Cable Compressor Parts (moved)

Postby Skywatcher » Wed Nov 27, 2013 12:28 am

Greetings, all.

Although this question is not directly about an engine, it is about a piece of equipment often driven by a small engine.

Customer brought in a P-C CPLC7060V-1 single-stage air compressor, which had been run out of oil. Thus the connecting rods had transferred metal onto the crankshaft journals and seized the compressor.

Does anyone know where replacement conrods and gaskets can be obtained for these units at a reasonable price? A Canadian supplier quoted almost $50 per connecting rod, plus freight, which seems a little high for what they are. Any suggestions are more than welcome.

Thanks, and all the best,

Sky

Heh.. wow. and that's one of those that might go under the power tools, home & garden stuff forum category.. Will have to see about setting that up, this would be a perfect initial thread.

not to mention that we've just got in a Ridgid compressor under warranty with a seized rod... Just put in parts order yesterday. whole crankshaft (twin cylinder pump) by itself retails under $50 . rods under $20

no wonder why so many Canucks have no problem paying the global shipping premium eBay charges on their GSP to buy parts from us.. it evidently is still cheaper for them than buying from their own sources locally..

Hi Again

My wife did some research and found the rods for $17.32 each and a complete gasket kit for less than $30.00 at Allparts Equipment out of Michigan with shipping to our US pickup point in Montana for as little as $11.81 Now that makes the repair worth doing. Thanks and all the best,

Sky

Awesome,. :) I knew it seemed silly that those parts were so expensive.. :) - even Honda doesn't charge that much for a connecting rod (usually! LOL!).

Job Completed

Picked up the parts a month and a half ago and put the compressor back together in the first part of April. Customer was happy and I got paid :D
