Was this 3 ton host a little over kill or what? I don't get to use it much anymore. :oops:

I have used my 2T one several times lately too since hurt my lower back once again helping a customer to load his mower because the lousy flat ATV ramp I have. The one I have is the one I use to lift and move auto engines around so I can get to things in those extra tight engine compartments. I don't see why not use it even though it is a little over kill; why have more tools than you need especially when storage space is at premium.

Hopefully I gain a couple hundred sq ft as I re-organize the shop this off season. At the beginning of the year I had to either crawl over things or move them outside to get to my tools and parts. At least now I can get a small rider in when its raining to work on it. That won't be there this winter as I got to get my JD650 in for repair/rebuild; hoping I only collapsed the rings.

Injuring your back isn't fun at all. Even if it heals and seems fine for years it will come back and haunt you. I know mine sure has.

I use mine crane as if it is a lift jack when working those ZTRs and mower when removing those transaxles and engines; although, I am considering a 1T roll-a-bout crane assembly as it doesn't have legs to get in the way like the folding crane does.

I do have set of 95"x 16" 1.5T arched ramps coming in today. I know a little over kill there but I do several big commercial ZTRs and a couple UTVs every year and I don't trust those 1500lbs ones. I wouldn't need them if the customers had their own ramps.

Oh tell me about it .. I have 2 fractures in my spine - middle (just below shoulder blades where bottom of rib cage meets) and lower back just above the pelvis (compression fracture from trying to lift something way too heavy) add that to radicular neuropathy, easy to see why I no longer do any heavy work any more. Even now that middle back fracture is bothering again (as it has for the last 30 years. high school sports injury)

word of advice to anyojne who has not yet experienced it.. - get a back support (weightlifter) belt and always wear it if you need to go lifting anything over 50 Lbs (at least!) or use a hoist (definitely NOT Overkill!) or get a friend to help lift.
