I don't think he has a distributor cap, 6 individual coils on top of the plugs.

Could be as you say...
The car manufactures are gone happy with strange to me setups just trying to meet those government mandated MPGs. Just more things that can go wrong and cost more money as you got to go to them for the parts.

It not like the Model T, bailing wire and corn cobs.

I am getting my code information from a buddy of mine who is a certified GM mechanic. He is the service manager for all the used cars being turned into Ford and Dodge dealer here. I got an odd code about four months ago and he cold not bring it back up. He scanned my entire car with the machine they have that checked all the components. The reason I had him check it is because it shut down on me twice at stop lights. Changed the fuel filter and no more shut downs. No leaks but I have not checked the air cleaner yet, or done a tune up. i.e. change plugs or anything. haven't had a chance to check the map sensor or EGR sensor yet but will soon. Thanks again, Carl

Wish it was as simple as those old Fords. May just start driving my VW trike, I get 117 mile plus on five gallons of gas. Carl

I believe if the cat gets clogged the first indication is loss of power and rpm.
