Kohler Oil Filter

Postby dennis » Sat Apr 16, 2016 6:52 pm

I am looking for a Kohler oil filter that fits a Kohler CV 491. It is on a John Deere riding mower...L110, GXL 110A122113, 17.5HP. I have not found any information that conclusively states the proper Kohler filter for that engine, but it looks like a Kohler 12 050 01-S1 is the correct one. Any help would be appreciated.

Yep, and can also use Briggs & Stratton 696854 (shorty) or 491056 (longer) - both are virtually identical to the Kohler counterparts - as they are to the Tecumseh versions - wipe off the white print on the filters, and you'd have a hard time telling any of them apart from the better quality aftermarket versions (Oregon, Stens) or one another (except the bright yellow Briggs ELS oil filter.. although I do believe there is also a yellow aftermarket version that is identical to it) Dealer cost -wise, there is very little difference in pricing either.
