I was given a nice Simplicity rider because my Boss wouldn't take my advice to replace the infamous Briggs head gasket over the Dealer who told him the engine was shot. 40 minutes and $13 later I had a nice mower that served me well for two years and sold for $350. Buddy of mine just sold a Cub RER for $60.

I currently mow with a grasshopper 616 bought new in 97 all I do is service year to year. I have never put a spindle on or replaced any of the belts still all oem.

I tried selling the Bolens but no one wanted it because it was a lousy Bolens; that what they think as it has been the best small mower I ever had.

Bolens = MTD too. I believe MTD bought them in 2001 along with Troy-Bilt when they bought Garden Way.

Yep and pain to change drive belts but I have seen worst out MTDs lately where I got to drop the rear differentials just to get the belts replaced. No way of removing the pulley as before. They have a cross shaft right over the nut and no room to move a wrench around with tearing up your hands. Still not bad once you got the hang of it and know to expect it.

I wish they left Troy-Bilt alone the stuff coming out now is no where as good as my Horse Tiller is. Done worn two sets of tines out and working on the third set.
