with the hex end would using a hand impact on it work or would it tend to split the brass even sooner?

It isnt the "tight" that locks them in - it is the corrosion and gum/varnish that does - much like loctite - hand impact would probably break the carburetor in one place or another if you were using enough hammer force to make it useful at the very lest it would damage things beyond service - would be better off using a good fitting screwdriver as noted before - hollow ground and straight sided (preferably with some radius to the edges so they don't dig into the soft threads - which is why the OEM Briggs tool is a round body shank) and strip down the carburetor all the way to the body and use a bit of heat on the aluminum body around the threads - use thermal expansion to break the "glue" holding the nozzle so tight. - if THAT dont get it out without damage, nothing will.

And if someone else has had go at it before all bets are off as it probably already damaged and there may be no slot to work with.

I just got through cleaning a Keihin carburetor that uses a two piece nozzle/jet system. I had to press out the nozzle which is just normally held in by the jet which I had already removed. This is not easy as it is very hard to get to the nozzle tip once it is below the ventura (carburetor throat) surface; had to make a tool to do it. It was nearly solid packed in by corrosion.

19G412-1180-E2 Genpower series.

Jon, Your carburetor would be a LMT 203 per type number.

  • Carburetor PN 690111(Superseded to 690115)
  • Carburetor Kit PN 497849
  • Nozzle/Main Jet PN 690125

Note: Although carburetor kits are shown with the nozzle Briggs have removed them from the kits.

Yep. Briggs list price is $109.70 even with my discount plus shipping it is still nearly a C note. And that a cheap carb try ordering one for Kohler M8 at over $200. That why I spent an hour rebuilding the throttle shaft on my personal tiller.

It one of the very good reasons to be extra careful when rebuilding these carbs. In 6+ years I yet to tear one up; although, I have destroyed 3 nozzles none of which I damage to start with. They were after someone else had already bugger them up using the wrong tools trying to remove them. I had one LMT carburetor gave to me that took me nearly six months to find the right IPL that had it listed so I could replace the nozzle then sold it.

You may be aware of this:
If you are not in a big hurry for the Briggs carb you might try this: you can do a saved search for the carb on fleabay 9evilbay and if one EVER appears as a new listing (as used or whatever with those numbers you will receive a email notice in your mailbox.
You have to be very careful typing how you list the SAVED search so as to get a email notice when the desired items appears.
for example I would list each Briggs part number separately as a saved search and if the numbers appear on anything listed in future you will get a email notice.

Briggs 690111

Briggs 690115

I've had stuff that I was in no hurry for pop up few months later at low ball price by using the saved search, even new old stock carbs, good used carbs, etc. I've bought the old NLA Tecumseh gen carbs that are $100 when found new for around $25 using the saved search.

Be sure it says you will receive emails which is usually the default when you click on save this search.
You can go to your SEARCHS YOU FOLLOW from the ebay drop down page and see that it's prompt says receive emails for your desired items. (sometimes it won't list as receive emails for some unknown reason. You can also click on the VIEW ITEMS to see if anything is listed now.

Keep a heads up and backside and maybe use paypal for buyer protection against scammers. (and don't buy outside the USA lower 48) ;)

Also when rained in and you have search time on computer:
Also if you go to a online Briggs parts place and look at listed carbs per engine model and or HP that match your cArb parts numbers and list the briggs engine model on flea bay as a carb saved search. Also try using your Briggs engine model and/or HP. Sometimes you will even see the Briggs engine model list on flea bay that the carb fits under is this part compatible, etc.

Sometimes people will list a used good carb using the Briggs engine model that the carb is used on and not use the carb number.
This takes little more time but usually will result in finding a used carb then you have to kinda determine if it's worth the chance per the listing and price. ;)

I've used this method to find used parts and new parts, especially parts no longer available or high dollar parts at mark down prices on flea bay after I kinda figured out how many different model and hp engines the same part was used on from factory. ;)

Using what Arkie suggests about these are the models that the 690115 are used on; all are GenSeries engines. Type number in brackets when there is a range of types.

  • 19G412-1180-E2 Engine
  • 19G412-1129-E1 Engine
