Trying some espresso this morning hasn't help yet. Still Monday. Drats. Maybe tomorrow will be Tuesday. Closing the shop for today and going fishing. At least I know I will get the hook wet.

I haven't had a week like this in years. Just call my vendor and the dang belts was showed in stock Thursday but are now on backorder with an estimated shipped date of Monday won't even in the warehouse until Mid September. Now I got to try them locally which may not possible being MTD drive belts. On top that the 3/8 x 43.2 belts are not but are 3/8 x32.7 and won't fit.

At least something has changed as MTD has shipped my pulleys that were on a 2-3 week backorder early so that at least my customer can get his mower going by Monday.

Last Wednesday a passenger in a taxi heading for Salford Station leaned over to ask the driver a question and gently tapped him on the shoulder to get his attention. The driver screamed, lost control of the cab, nearly hit a bus, drove up over the curb and stopped just inches from a large plate window.

For a few moments everything was silent in the cab. Then, the shaking driver said, "Are you OK? I'm so sorry, but you scared the daylights out of me."

The badly shaken passenger apologized to the driver and said, "I didn't realize that a mere tap on the shoulder would startle someone so badly."

The driver replied, "No, I'm the one who is sorry, it's entirely my fault. Today is my very first day driving a cab. I've been driving a hearse for 25 years."

While on patrol, I arrested a burglar who’d injured himself running from a home. He told me he’d broken in and unhooked the phone before searching for valuables. But he’d panicked when he heard a woman’s voice. I entered the house and heard the same voice: “If you’d like to make a call, please hang up and try your call again.”

A woman noticed her husband standing on the bathroom scale, sucking in his stomach. “Ha! That’s not going to help,” she said.

“Sure, it does,” he said. “It’s the only way I can see the numbers.”

A commercial boasted that its product could help people live pain-free in their golden years.

“Am I in my golden years?” my wife, 63, asked.

“Not at all,” I assured her. “But you are yellowing fast. The doctor said that I will heal...................eventually.
