Round here it's 34 to 40c and sometimes humid with it, so no snow to blow

We're more worried about fires with the high winds and dry conditions

Take care in the cold, I remember being amazed at what some drivers attempted to do in snow and ice. It always amazed me how more didn't come to grief with flooring the accelerator and then hitting the brakes hard. I guess new automotive technology, traction control and the like helps a bit, but I always reckon that the most important safety gear is between the ears!

As far weather here last weekend it was in the 20F for highs and 8F for the lows; now this weekend 70F for the highs with thunderstorms forecasted. To me that a bad mix as 70's and storms usually have twisters.

Just working on next season stock orders along with off season projects. Found myself bored stiff earlier this week due to the cold.

Keep safe in those twisters! We had one of those twisters go through the town about four years back, if anyone says that they don't happen in Oz they're wrong!

The meteorologists reckoned it was a small typhoon. You can still see some of the damage. It was a miracle that nobody was hurt. Took us a while to cut up and cart off all the trees that were either torn down or had large limbs blown off. Parts of town were without electricity for a couple of days where a largish tree came down over the road, squashing a car and bringing down the high voltage power lines. It was a bit scary cutting up trees and staying clear of power lines in the dark.

Finished up spending a couple of days fixing chainsaws from various sources afterwards, as well as ordering a few pounds of roofing nails as we'd used up all our supplies around town. We used a load of heavy duty plastic as temporary tarpaulins where folks had lost some roof tiles or a sheet of roofing. It was a very busy few days.

Here in my area we are used to getting them but it is still something we prefer not to see. And these storms are seemly more frequent and more severe than in the past. Doesn't seem we ever get a simple rain anymore like when I was kid where I played in it. Just way too many tornado potential storms. Even the straight line winds are doing a lot damage. I still need to build myself a new storm shelter at my new place too.

The last outbreak when I was in North Alabama we were out of electrical power for over three weeks as the tornadoes that time took out the 3 sets main feeder lines to the area not to mention all the other damage. Boy I was getting tired of BBQ food.

Bob, I figure you were out on the lake struck in an ice flow...I am think of putting a reminder sign here for customers to check their generators before Spring might get some business before I have no power myself...reminds me I better check mine. I haven't crank it since last spring either.

Had one to come in over the weekend a generator that wouldn't start. He showed me it would start so I look around for the switch. Flipped it on a first pull and off and running. He couldn't believe it. Some things are just to simple. Never unloaded it off truck. Told him have a good day. He said you just don't know how many times he has pulled on it trying when he was on his way to take it back and thought he would stop and let me look at it. With no charge he was happy with it that it started up and so was I when I saw his face when I flipped the switch. Good times

We are supposed to get more snow by tomorrow but at least the cold snap seems to be over. I am too old to deal with -20C anymore. However with all the snow in the bush above us and a sudden mild spell we could get some serious runoff which might create problems.
