Kawasaki FH500V vibration

Postby Ron » Fri Feb 24, 2017 12:15 pm

Got a JD in that had a bad oil leak. Found leak to be coming from top seal. When replacing seal I noticed a little play in crankshaft but couldn't tell if it was enough to be noticed when running. Fresh oil and filter and all cleaned up. Started and there is definite vibration. Could it be the main bearing on top (if there even is one)? Fixable?

Yes it fixable if the crankshaft isn't bent or badly worn. It has a replaceable bushing on the flywheel side but this does depend on the spec number as some may not be repalceable. If PTO side that is worn out then it is a new crankcase cover.

No info in service on the replacement procedure.

I'll have to look up the ipl on the JD site. The spec #'s don't work on the Kawasaki site. It is a John Deere LX 277.

The AS11 and BS11 has the same crankcase as the AS00 so the 92139-7008 should work (you may to ream it out to install the bushing) though it should have a bushing installed already.

Thanks for your interest. Any tips you can give me for installing this bushing? Repair manual online?

Engine is FH500V AS-11. JD site does not show a bushing.

It just like they don't show the Kawasaki part numbers either; that way you're usually forced to buy from them. There many sites that are no longer showing individual parts. Spindles and 2 cycle carburetors are good examples. With enough knowledge and skills these can be gotten.

That AS11 crankcase has a JD pn of AM133392 which is the 49120-7021 and the AS00 which is the base engine crankcase is 49120-7021. So from that I would agree that they are the same. If you look-up the AS00 you'll see the bushing listed.

As far as installation they are pressed in. Just remember to it aligned properly.

I guess I didn't pay attention for the bushing when I r&r the seal. Is that bushing replaceable from the top or does the engine have to be completely disassembled?

Think about it. The crank is in the way.... With that I off to HFT to look at a drill press.
