They're all over fleabay, OEM and bootleg. Best to look up you'r part number to be sure you get the correct one/rope length.
Generally FREE shipping and no sales tax.

The part number for my GCV160A STL1 long-rope recoil starter on a Lawn Boy 10795 (2007 model) is 28400-Z0L-V72. Lowest price new I've found is $31.80.

That starter no doubt will work, but you will not be able to mount the OE top cover. I could easily live without that though.

One could easily replace the rope on a short rope starter with a longer rope and off you go.

except that as someone else also noted that that's not the one I need.

Yeah, well at the time of my replies, NO model or part numbers were mentioned by you, right? I just picked one of the many as an example.

Well, the spring curl broke on mine again yesterday. I was able to put a new hook in it and got going again.

Decided that mowing 60+X/season X 10 seasons X 8 pulls/mow, it's probably been pulled north of 5000 times. Time for something different.

Went down to the local OPE shop and they wanted nearly $40 for an aftermarket Oregon 31-066. No thank you.

My neighbor has a 1 year old Honda mower with a GCV190 engine with a starter that will work on my CGV160A. 28400-Z8B-901ZB (red, long rope).

Found one at boats.net for $7.21 ($15.16 FOB 68845-4802). I just won't be able to mount the trim cover. I don't care.

Boats .net usually has decent prices and all their honda stuff is oem. I buy most all my honda carbs from them. They ship quickly too. Really good place to deal with.
