B & S carb leaking

Now when comes to small cube carbs this adding of bushing becomes very difficult to do due porting and acceleration pumps that operate off the throttle shaft. Beside by the time the throttle are worn in these cubes the acceleration pump and it cylinder is badly worn too so replacement carburetor is the best option.

And did you check for throttle shaft wear? That's an old motor, no?

Wait a minute Fulltilt. I just checked with my Briggs distributor and the part number I gave is available through them. I would had a got kickback if it wasn't in the warehouse.

I could tell you what my dealer price is but I won't. (Edit: And I know most don't care)

Throttle shaft wear is an easy fix if needed as is the body wear as you just ream and install bushings if needed. Of course when you got the equipment to do so it easier done as to keep things lined up. Earlier I saved a customer's Kawasaki' 2 barrel Nikki carburetor by installing a new choke shaft bushing. I don't expect to see many with a choke shaft worn completely in two as most times it the throttle shaft. Bill went from over $300 to $150 to rebuild carburetor and would have been even less if I knew what I know today how to get to Kawasaki part numbers for those JD spec engines for which JD will only give their in house part numbers for.


As I said Ron, your still SOL on the lower body. Part # 299170 won't work. It takes some longer to figure it out than others.

As I said before ( in my reply that mysteriously got deleted ) I don't care what the part costs...its the wrong part.

Tnx, 38; that's what I thinking but didn't look at a image of it. Nor does it look like it has the nozzle either.

Lots of interesting comments. Thanks guys. KE4AVB--share how you get those part numbers on the JD spec Kawasaki's. So, since I couldn't get the nozzle out I just tightened it as tight as I could get it and left the lower body sitting on the bench full of gas. Previously, I could watch the fuel seep around the nozzle. Now, I come back and it's dry. So I loosen it again and back it out enough to get the upper body on. Installed on tiller, started and adjusted needle valve to run smooth. Shut off and as of now, several hours later, no leak. Maybe we got lucky. If tomorrow morning, all's good, ship it!
