mtd 725-0267 key switch

Postby 38racing » Thu Jun 01, 2017 8:44 pm

i have acquired a mtd 600 series. manual/ipl for it says keyswitch is 725-0267.
no real wiring schematic provided. when i look for replacements they all seem to be standard 5 prong but one on this unit has a 6th prong outside the connector. it has red wire with black stripe on it which i haven't tried to trace yet. anyone already know where wire goes ? and mtd partno?
update : so elsewhere i find in manual the picture and switch is 725-1396 and i find it does have the 6th prong. something to do with different style options for this series

got an MTD model number for that "600 series" ? and the serial number (or at least the first 8 digits) so we can identify which year as well.. maybe one of us can come up with a diagram and/ or schematic for the switch?

That Red/Blk should on the "A" terminal and it goes to the Afterfire solenoid if the diagrams I have are correct.

Reference wiring diagram 629-0822 and a few others that used the 6 wire setup.

Keyswitch part is 725-1396.

Edit: Now once at the engine connector is probably will change over to Grey if Briggs is involved

model is 13dd678g515 and this is the MTD manual number OGRM-802. Have to check for serial number. Schematics just really show part names and numbers.

38Racing, The 600 series wiring diagrams are in the MTD 770-10579 Service Manual under electrical safety interlock systems diagrams. Just match up to your current setup.
