Air filter cleaning?

Postby KE4AVB » Sun Jul 16, 2017 11:11 pm

Would cleaning an air filter in a pinch work? I would say yes if you know how and it also depends on the materials in use.

I have done it with warm water and dish detergent, prefer to replace the filter.

As RoyM said I prefer to replace. It was just had to case. It was that my commercial customer didn't let me know they had added these two Echo trimmers to their equipment line and I only had one filter on hand and was needing them back the next day.

NO0C, Soap, water, and very small amount bleach (my water has no chlorine in it) , about 30 minutes in my 240w UC. The bleach was for the grass stains.

Will the UC clean the little screens from the trimmer carbs?

Haven't had any luck in doing those filters screens especially those extra thick ones. It isn't that I have tried experimenting with them. I just order a batch of them from my vendor as a lot times the thick ones are clogged. Zama currently is just sending out the single layer ones as replacements.

Well kinda but I have the 1/4, 7/32, 5/16, and couple others at my disposal here. The single layer screens is easily shape to a smaller hole. My vendor is the distributor for Walbro and Zama so I get most of the parts thought at time I need to buy lot package of ten. Other times it takes a while to get some of the items too. I even got a few of those enrichment pistons but mostly order full kits and the plastic choke shafts that customers like to break.

so I ordered some zama and walbro. I guess I wasn't paying close attention as the walbro say they fit WA and WT but I failed to note the 3/16" so they are just flat, no sides. They don't look like what I find in a wa carb

Those 3/16 filter are the ones over a check valve and are held in with a ring clip. Only changed 3 or 4 in the last 7 yrs; a pain to get the ring out. For the WT and WA your needing the 5/16 screens. Walbro PN 140-70 which fits HD HDA HDB HDC SDC WA WAT WB WS WT WTA WY WYP
