Competition Problem

Gentlemen how do you handle a local competitor that wants to use you for their free technical support?

Here he is getting under my skin and I about to tell him where to go. I have already just told him that by blocking his phone number.

Its take a lot nerve to use your knowledge to under cut you. Tell him to use the internet just like everyone else.

Anyone like that won't be in business very long. That my 1st prediction for 2017. :D

I do not often give tech advice to local competitors although I have gladly charged them full price to fix the machine for them .. usually if they try to get me to talk about it I just tell 'em "I'd have to see it" so they would have to bring it in.. I have been known a time or two to mis lead them as well - if they are really dumb enough to pull the exhaust system off trying to find the muffler bearings, they damn well deserve it.

Now that sounds like something I would do like the one I pull earlier this year at Lowe's. I had the floor salesman looking all over the place for a metric adjustable wrench.

Seriously though I have been trying to give this guy a big hint but he got head like concrete wall; nothings gets through. And yes I have already been telling to just bring the equipment and see what it needs done.

It sorta the former vacuum cleaner salesman that I was his personal driver. Finally had to P him off as I got tried of him calling every hour wanting to go somewhere; now he doesn't want speak to me but that fine as I am very busy otherwise with shop's work. It not my fault got a DUI and lost his license and car (totalled it).

I always tell them I don't know without it here don't want to tell you wrong. Then I always add to that my best friends call me cash. Then I'll just go back to work and if they hang around I just keep telling them to bring it in. They get the hint after a bit. Then after a few days they show back up with it. Haha. I also see others charging $150 plus to set the valves and they pay for it and it still doesn't run. That's like going to a steak house ordering steak and getting a piece of chicken. Nothing but quick cash for them and a bad name. The customers already have a mind set of other shops before they come to the right one to get it fix right and not and bandaged up to make it out the door for $$$$$.
