Fuel Tank Breather - Grommet - Valve maybe?

Postby Loki » Wed Dec 13, 2017 5:32 am

Howdy All,

Just need a solution for an old Golf cart G9 Yamaha, the plastic fuel tank has a 20mm (7/8")?, hole where it had a grommet and tank breather valve. Its gone. The owner has been running around in dusty conditions for over 12 months with a 20mm hole on top of fuel tank inviting in dust and water. Also too tight to pay the $60 AUD, which is steep but fairly critical.

Any suggestions on what would work. Wine bottle corks wont do! Although might get you round a few holes with a small hole in it. Thanks Loki.

Fuel tank grommet should be Yamaha part number J10-21773-00-00. This assumes you're referring to item 4 in the following image and it is '91-'95 G9A.

Alternatively, Look for like a Echo fuel line tank grommet and fuel tank vent valve from Echo, grommet (unlikely to find one with just 1 hole) will need 2 pieces of fuel line and an echo or shidaiwa fuel tank breather vent if you get an Echo grommet that fits and is 3 lines, take one piece of line and use it to form a loop through 2 of the grommet holes and put the tank vent 9on other piece of line) in the third hole of course being in OZland might find similar grommets under other brands (homelite/ryobi/toro) Im just mentioning Echo 'cause its what im most familiar with :)

Thanks bgengine and KEA4VB I see the breather is 2 pieces. Expensive items. Ill definately do what is suggested. the hole is 20mm there should be something to fit it out. Echo is making a stronger mark here in Oz, i rate them well. Echo products have been around a long time but theres no advertising for them as such while on TV I see the Stihl and Husky propaganda fairly regularly.
