Postby KE4AVB » Wed Jan 17, 2018 8:07 am

Is anyone doing okay while are in this deep freeeeze. Knees are knocking and shivering here as this it is down to 5F with light snow cover. It looks like many of our members experiencing low temperatures even worse except those in Australia which on the other extreme with temps that are 110+F.

It the not getting acclimatize that is hurting Monday it was 60F and it is now 5F with a wind of -15F. Even the wildlife is having problems.

Work at a stand still here due to cold temps. I just don't work on plastic items in these temps.

Greetings All

Enjoying some Chinook conditions here at the moment with daytime highs up to +6ºC (43ºF or 279ºK), but that west wind can get a bit brutal now and then with speeds up to 70 km/h (44 mph) to blow the snow into some serious drifts. It was a different story just before New Year's day though, December 31st, woke up to -37ºC (-36.5ºF or 236ºK). The old Ford Explorer was a little reluctant to start, even though the block heater had been plugged in all night. Standard transmissions and rear ends tend to get a little stiff at those temperatures, seats are as hard as rock and it takes a few miles to get the flat spots out of the tires. Take care and stay warm all of you,

Sky

That is why I left the prairies, getting too old for that nonsense. I think somebody turned us upside down, it was 25 in Fairbanks the other day.

Just don't won't one the kick you. I have to caught them every once a while but I know how the handle them. They like riding a bucking bronco. Even with me at 250 they bounce me around a good bit until I get them down off their feet.

They are overly curious too. The meter man that was changing my meter when he said he was a little nervous about my big rooster. I wasn't paying attention when the male nosing around to see the guy was doing. When the guy looked up he nearly when over a 6 foot wooden fence; the meter man not the Emu. The meter man sent someone else out a couple days and didn't tell the new guy what would happen he also tried jumping the fence. I had sore sides for a few days afterwards.

I had sore sides for a few days afterwards.
