Honda GC160 idle

Yes. I've tried to adjust those for idle, but as soon as it drops below about 2000 (guessing) it just quits and won't idle. Centrifugal clutch engages about 1600-1800. There's the problem! :D

any chance that there's a similar carb that has the idle circuit? this one shows an idle mixture adjustment needle.

Should be able to go thru some the other GC160A ipls and find what is need to convert over to a different carburetor and with a throttle control setup.

I suppose you already have clutch as there appears to be some that engsge at 2200 and there are springs that change engagement rpm . that said the clutches seem quite pricier than back in my karting days. Although a quick check shows them on amazon.ca at half the price of princessauto.
